Dr. Reza Basiri is a biomedical engineer and entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and clinical care. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, where his doctoral research focused on deep learning and computer vision for the autonomous detection, classification, and monitoring of diabetic foot ulcers. As Founder and CEO of MedProactive, he leads a multidisciplinary team that designs and manages clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and healthcare providers.

His earlier work spans MRI sequence development for epilepsy research, large-scale clinical data analysis, and clinical trial coordination for medical devices — a foundation that pairs scientific rigor with practical knowledge of how new tools earn their place in care.

Dr. Basiri represents the digital-health and decision-support dimension of Own Health's mission. His research on AI-driven detection of diabetic foot ulcers maps directly onto our Limb and Vascular Care pathway and the risk-surveillance thinking behind Doctor Dash, our clinical decision support platform. As we build infrastructure that predicts deterioration before it becomes a crisis, his expertise helps ensure that the technology underpinning our model is clinically grounded and evidence-based.
